National Museum

The National Museum stands at the head of Wenceslas Square in Prague, in a neo-Renaissance building of 1891 by Josef Schulz. It reopened in 2018 after a seven-year reconstruction and holds natural history and historical collections.

Also known as Narodni muzeum.

Why it matters

The facade still carries damage from 1968, when Warsaw Pact troops fired on the building; some of the repairs were deliberately left visible as lighter stone.
