Corrections policy
How GCI Media corrects errors, and how corrections are disclosed to readers.
We correct in place, visibly
When we get something wrong, we fix the article and say what changed. Corrections are appended to the bottom of the affected article with the date and a plain description of the error. We do not silently edit a published claim.
Levels
A correction is issued when a factual error changed the meaning of the piece. A clarification is issued when a statement was accurate but open to being misread. A typographical fix that does not change meaning is made without a note.
Dates
A substantive correction updates the article's Updated date. Routine site rebuilds never change it — the date reflects editorial change only.
Withdrawal
If an article cannot be corrected — the central claim was wrong and cannot be salvaged — we withdraw it. The URL is kept and replaced with an explanation of what was wrong and why it was withdrawn. We do not delete the page and leave a dead link.
Reporting an error
Errors can be reported to the contact address published on Global City Intelligence. We aim to respond to a substantiated report within five working days.
