About GCI Media
What GCI Media publishes, who writes it, and how it relates to the Global City Intelligence data platform.
GCI Media is the editorial layer of Global City Intelligence. The main platform is a structured dataset covering thousands of cities. This is where we write about what that data shows, where it comes from, and where it falls short.
What we publish
Analysis of how cities change; data stories built on structured evidence with the method stated in full; interviews with people who study, plan and build cities; research and methodology write-ups; and updates when the platform's data or approach changes.
What we are not
We are not a news desk. We do not chase breaking stories, and we do not mark our articles as news in structured data. We are not a travel or affiliate publication — we take no commission on anything a reader books or buys.
How this relates to the data platform
Articles link into city and country profiles on the main platform where it is editorially useful. Those links are chosen by a person for each article, not generated in bulk. When an article uses GCI's own figures, it says which numbers are measured, which are derived and which are modelled — see our source policy.
