Wallenstein Palace
Wallenstein Palace is a Baroque palace in Prague's Mala Strana, built between 1623 and 1630 for Albrecht von Wallenstein. It is a national cultural monument and has housed the Senate of the Czech Republic since 1996; its formal garden is open to the public.
Also known as Valdstejnsky palac.
Why it matters
The palace was built by clearing more than twenty existing houses and a brick works, which is why an early Baroque block of this scale sits inside an otherwise medieval street pattern.
