Trinity Church
Trinity Church stands at the head of Wall Street in Lower Manhattan. The present Gothic Revival building by Richard Upjohn was consecrated in 1846 and its churchyard holds burials from the seventeenth century onward.
Why it matters
When it was completed its spire was the tallest structure in New York, which is legible now only because the churchyard keeps the surrounding towers at a distance.
