Federal Hall National Memorial

Federal Hall National Memorial is a Greek Revival building of 1842 at 26 Wall Street in Lower Manhattan, built as the United States Custom House. It stands on the site of the earlier Federal Hall where George Washington was inaugurated in 1789, and is administered by the National Park Service.

The building is routinely described as the site of the first inauguration, which is true of the site but not of the structure: the original was demolished in 1812 and what stands is a later custom house on the same ground.
