Royal Opera House

The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden is the home of The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet. The present building of 1858 by E. M. Barry is Grade I listed and was extensively rebuilt behind its facade in the 1990s.

Why it matters

The 1990s rebuilding absorbed the adjoining Floral Hall, an 1860 iron and glass market building, which now serves as the opera house's public foyer.
