Covent Garden Market Building
The Covent Garden Market Building is the neoclassical market hall of 1830 by Charles Fowler at the centre of the Covent Garden piazza in London. The wholesale market left in 1974 and the building reopened in 1980 as shops and stalls. It is Grade I listed.
Why it matters
The glass roofs are Victorian additions to a Georgian open colonnade, which is why the building reads as two different structures depending on whether you look up or along.
