Petrin Lookout Tower

The Petrin Lookout Tower is a steel observation tower on Petrin hill in Prague, built in 1891 for the Jubilee Exhibition and modelled loosely on the Eiffel Tower at roughly a fifth of its height. It is a protected cultural monument.

Why it matters

Its summit stands at almost exactly the same height above sea level as the top of the Eiffel Tower, because the hill makes up the difference - which was the point of building it there.
