Gracia

Gracia is an administrative district of Barcelona formed around a town that was annexed by the city in 1897. Its historic core is characterised by narrow streets and small squares, and the district extends uphill to the north.

Type
district
Status
An official administrative unit with a defined boundary.

Also known as Gràcia, Vila de Gràcia.

Gracia was an independent municipality until 1897 and its street pattern still differs sharply from the Cerda grid that surrounds it. The modern district also takes in hillside areas above the historic core.
