Why it matters

The museum's subject and its building are the same argument: a regional collection installed in the two buildings where colonial and post-colonial state authority was exercised, rather than in a new pavilion elsewhere.

Editorial context written by Global City Intelligence, not a statement from the venue.

Good for

  • Rainy dayA large enclosed institution in the civic district, connected under cover to the surrounding buildings.
  • Architecture & designTwo retained civic buildings linked by a later intervention, with the junction between them left visible.
