Chinatown Heritage Centre

The Chinatown Heritage Centre occupies three restored shophouses on Pagoda Street in Singapore and reconstructs the interiors of the cubicle dwellings in which early migrants lived.

Why it matters

The reconstruction is of the upper-floor cubicles rather than the shopfronts, which is the part of shophouse life that restoration for retail normally erases.
